Construction at railroad crossings cause street closures

Weather permitting, construction on several of Laredo's Union Pacific railroad street crossings will include several closures, starting Tuesday, Feb. 22, through Thursday, Feb. 24.

The Union Pacific Railroad will coordinate with area businesses to maintain access. The traveling public should slow down, drive with extreme caution, and observe all safety signs, traffic control devices, message boards and flaggers in the work zone area. These intersections will be closed to thru traffic between four to eight hours.

Feb. 22: Work will begin at the Justo Penn and Santa Maria crossing and the Mann Road and Santa Maria crossing.

Feb. 23: Work will continue on the Island and Santa Maria crossing and the Calton and Santa Maria crossing.

Feb. 24: Work will continue the Markley and Santa Maria crossing and Chicago and Santa Maria crossing.
